y myself the other week mainly because Scott didn’t want to see another castle which is fair enough.So I took a day trip out to the south east of London. We went to Leeds Castle first which is built on an island in the middle of a lake about the 1100’s and has been lived in on and off since then. It became a wreck a couple of hundred years back and in the early 1900’s a very rich lady (Lady Baillie) brought it and restored the whole thing and adjusted it to make it her home. It’s an odd mix of 1200’s architecture with adjustments throughout the centenaries and ending in 1920’s bits and pieces.
It is also used as the place people come when they want to talk about something they don’t want anyone else to hear about and was used a lot in the 2nd world war for that purpose and is still used today for such things which I thought was quite interesting.
Lady Baillie also really liked birds and the castle has paintings and drawings of birds all over the place. It also has its own aviary with about 20-25 species of birds from all over the world but mainly Australia and the Pacific. She even has a Kea which I thought was pretty cool.
We then drove down to Dover and I got to see France which was very cool and the white cliffs. Dover itself is not that nice but the castle there is pretty cool it has all these rooms dug out underneath it. We didn’t get to go in but I would like to go and have a look one day.

n we head over the Canterbury which has a hug cathedral which is the home of the Christian faith in England. It is also where the Archbishop of Canterbury resides and is the head of the Anglican Church which is pretty cool. The church itself was very nice and the Black Prince and a King are buried in the church.
The town itself is also really nice it’s a market town and has narrow streets and heaps of shops there were people everywhere when I went.
We then went onto to Greenwich which is where the time starts and travelled over the Meridian Line after hopping on a boat we travelled upriver from Greenwich to London which was very convenient at that time because it had just started raining and was freezing cold and we got scones and a cup of tea on a warm boat covered in boat all the way home.
