Cambridge

A few weekends ago now we went to Cambridge to visit our friends Ross and Caroline. We spent a fantastic weekend walking around Cambridge getting into the Colleges for free (thanks to Ross) and enjoying the company of old friends.

We tried punting Ok well Ross, Caroline and I tried punting however Scott didn’t even want to get in the boat. Once he was in the boat there was no way he was going to punt. While punting we also happen to get the only hour of sunshine the whole weekend which we thought was great timing. We sailed past the mathematical bridge which is meant to be a replica of one Isaac Newton built which reportedly held itself together without any bolts or screws. Years later, inquisitive students took it apart in order to see how it fitted together and were unable to reassemble it without bolts. The fact that Isaac Newton died before the bridge was actually built is a minor detail - but it’s a nice storey.

We had a very interesting experience at the yearly fair which was on that weekend because it was midsummer. A community of pikies or gypsies had come to town and I must say the last time I saw so much flesh was at the beach. It was a fascinating and scary sight at the same time it wobbled in all the wrong places and was so fluro and white with orange skin (from way to much fake tan).

So after a great weekend we came home not looking forward to work.
