bit to visit out friends however last week was probably the last time we were going to be there as Caroline and Ross are heading back to Australia. This sad occasion was combined with excellent weather which we decided to make the most of it and get out and see some places that we had not visited yet. Saturday we headed off to Grantchester to visit the Orchard. Grantchester is a little village just out of Cambridge, we walked there which was magical as we passed along the river and through meadows with cows and swans dotted around this combined with it being a sunny day people fishing and everyone in a happy mood you seemed to th
ink England is not that bad…… Ok now this type of thinking we have called seasonal sickness basically when it nice everyone forgets how bad the weather can be and they go on about how lovely it is. But anyway while we where all in this frame of mind skipping along the path to Grantchester we where having a lovely time. When we got there we went straight to The Orchard which is a tea house basically and you sit out under hundreds of year old apple trees and drink tea and have scones with jam and clotted cream (for anyone who doesn’t know its just thick cream). This was actually really good as you felt you should have had a huge dress on and be heading back to your country estate after tea in your horse and carriage. After the time warp we went for a walk along the river to the swimming
hole where someone famous in history swam (sorry I can’t remember his name). It was just a really nice walk through the English woods before we headed back into town to the pub.We finished the day back in town with me getting a little sunburnt (amazingly) Ahh to live in England!!
The next day we all slept in the weather was not so good so we decided that we would just head off to the pub the other way along the river to Fen Ditton for lunch. The pub we stopped at is famous for being the best spot to be when the rowing regattas are on and was also very busy on a normal day of the week. We stayed until just before it started to rain before we head back home and back to London after our final weekend in Cambridge.
